Jon Hope

Biography

Ever since he emerged on the Hip Hop scene is 2005, Jon Hope has been steadily climbing up the Hip Hop ladder as one the premier lyricists in the rap game today. His passionate rhymes and unique perspective have given him an edge on his peers while gaining worldwide notoriety.

Born and raised in the nation’s smallest state, Rhode Island, Jon Hope clearly envisioned himself as an ambassador for a New England region often overshadowed by the Tri State Area. Hope says “I look at being from an unknown as an advantage. It allows me to look at Hip Hop through a different lens that many aren’t used to seeing!”

Being raised in a strict West African household, Jon Hope’s single mother worked three jobs to support him and his younger brother and sister. With Hope being forced to stay in the house and look after his siblings, he looked to Rhythm And Poetry (RAP) as an outlet to release his creative expression. After years of honing and perfecting his craft, he decided to use his voice as a tool to touch

Jon Hope has been featured in a number of high profile publications that include MTVU, Billboard, Rollingstone.com, and XXL to name a few. He has worked extensively with Smashsquad DJ Statik Selektah. Jon Hope has also collaborated/shared the stage with artists like Talib Kweli, Rakim, Kidz In The Hall, and The Lox to name a few. Other notable collaborations include G.O.O.D. Music producer Devo Springsteen.

In 2008, Jon Hope took his talents nationwide as he embarked on the 14 date college tour dubbed The Audacity Tour, which was inspired by Chicago Senator Barack Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope” novel. The tour received rave reviews and quickly helped Jon Hope grow his fan base. Jon Hope recently landed spot dates on Hip Hop legend Nas’ ‘Jones Experience Tour’ with DJ Green Lantern.

Jon Hope is currently working on his debut offering ‘Somekind of Wonderful EP’ which will be released on his own Essence Music Group imprint.
