Jazz piano legend McCoy Tyner will be joined by his trio and special guest alto saxophonist Gary Bartz. As a youth, Tyner was catapulted into the spotlight for his role in the John Coltrane Quartet, and at the Highline Ballroom, he will effectively pass the torch to another young pianist, the up and coming New Orleans native Jon Batiste, who Tyner has invited to perform as the opening act with his band. At the young age of 22, Batiste’s versatility, incredible musicianship and understanding of the music’s history prove that the future of jazz is in good hands.
