A Special Benefit Concert for ?

In October of 1966 the artist known as Question mark with his band ? and The Mysterians secured his place in rock history with the monumental smash hit 96 Tears which outsold the Beatles to become the top selling record in America and eventually an all time American rock classic. The song has been covered by numerous artists such as Aretha Franklin, Garland Jeffries, Iggy Pop and David Bowie and The British art band The Stranglers just to name a few. Critics and fans alike who have been treated to ?'s shows in recent years are unanimous in their praise for this ageless performer who still tears up the stage like it was 1966.

This January Question Mark lost his home, his pets and all his priceless memorabilia in a devastating house fire which spared nothing. Former promoter and occasional ? guitarist Gary Fury has assembled some of NY's finest nightlife personalities, club bookers and musical artists to throw a major benefit event to help put a roof over ?'s head and celebrate this important artist and his music. Fans are in for a treat as Question Mark himself will take the stage backed once again by Gary Fury and The Playthings with very special guest keyboardist Paul Shaffer of The Late Show with David Letterman. Other musical greats include Tommy Ramone of The Ramones, Joe Bouchard of the legendary Blue Oyster Cult, British keyboard giant John Hawken of The Nashville Teens, Rennaisance and The Strawbs, Former Jeff Buckley guitarist Gary Lucas and his band Gods and Monsters, British art rocker Genesis P-Orridge, noted author and punkologist Legs McNeil and many other great local and national acts. Come join us and show your support for this living piece of American music history while taking in what will surely be one of the great NYC rock events of the year.
