BETTY

Biography

BETTY is a five-piece pop rock band fronted by Elizabeth Ziff, Alyson Palmer and Amy Ziff (L to R above) from New York City. The band's signature sound is tight harmonies, infectious melodies and evocative lyrics layered over strong grooves. Since 1986, BETTY has performed memorable and exciting live shows in clubs, theatres and arenas all over the world.

In addition to celebrating the recent release of their eighth album, "Bright & Dark", BETTY's holiday show will help restock catastrophically depleted supplies at New York food banks. The band urges everyone to bring along undented cans of food which will be collected to distribute to New York's neediest. BETTY believes in the power of Neighborhood!

In addition to gigging and recording, BETTY wrote and starred in the hit Off-Broadway show, BETTY RULES directed by Michael Greif (Rent, Next To Normal, Gray Gardens). They write and place music for television and major motion pictures, including the theme songs for Showtime Television's iconic The L Word, Stacy London's title show, HBO Family's Encyclopedia , HBO's Real Sex , Comedy Central's Out On The Edge, too many more to mention, and films for Disney and Touchstone.

Their acting appearances on The L Word and Ugly Betty have catapulted the members of this beloved cult band to wilder international recognition. Their work has won them two Emmys, the BMI Excellence in Career Award, the BMI Film and Television Award for Theme Song for The L Word and numerous humanitarian awards for their activist work.

Activists originally from Washington DC, BETTY began as an edgy a'cappella/spoken word/techno-beat trio. Fierce Elizabeth (vocals, guitar), funky Alyson (vocals, bass) and funny Amy (vocals, cello) are the songwriters and arrangers, while virtuoso guitarist Tony Salvatore and sizzling drummer Mino Gori complete the band.

BETTY is known for fighting fiercely for causes in which they believe. They have helped raise close to $50,000,000 by lending their voices, talent and support to organizations fighting to right the world.
